Got a chance to watch Chance Pe Dance on Netflix on Wii (I guess the honey moon period for Netflix on Wii is still on).

Chance Pe Dance is a story of a talented young dancer who finally reaches his goal of becoming the star of India, after a long struggle. The story line is very similar to what we have seen in many such movies before in Hindi – I am surprised someone really thought this movie might click!

Shahid Kapoor plays the leading role in this movie which is focused fully around his character. He has already attracted the hearts of millions of young fans in Bollywood, hence the mediocre performance in this movie might not actually be a big impact on his fan base, as they get to see him more often in this movie than any other movie of his.

Genelia D’Souza plays the role of Shahid Kapoor’s friend in Mumbai who falls in love with him. She looks bubbly and charming as always with her slow riding of the scooty adding humour to that particular scene in the movie. Given that this movie is her second in Hindi after the run away success of Jaane Tu Yaa Jaane Na, it was a complete disaster – but we cannot blame her much as the story line was all over the place.

The movie starts well with Shahid Kapoor playing the role of a typical bachelour dreaming of his career in dance. Then he becomes a dance teacher for a young bunch of kids in school and his romance with Genelia blooms during this time – all typical Hindi movie style. The director appears to have got confused at this point on whether the movie should lead the hero into becoming a top star of India or focus on his career as a dance teacher. In any case, he decides to do both, with Shahid leading the dance team to victory in a competition and also becoming the Star of India.

The songs are ok, not too great – in fact, I dont even remember the lyrics or the tune of even one.

If you have a lot of time at your disposal (like me) and dont have anything else to do, watch this movie – otherwise, it is worth watching some other movie.
