I had written about my surprise after seeing Rajneeti movie on Netflix last week. This week I had a bigger surprise. While Rajneeti was released in June 2010 and is already on Netflix online, I found I Hate Luv Storys, a movie released in July 2010 and was also available on Netflix online. My immediate reaction is: If a movie flops big time, then they immediately make it available online – can that be considered a spoiler? I guess not in true sense, but it does give you an idea of what my opinion about this movie is going to be 🙂

Imran Khan (remember Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na? ) and Sonam Kapoor (Anil Kapoor’s daughter) play the lead roles in I Hate Luv Storys, with Sameer Dattani playing a key role in the movie.  Imran Khan is this ‘happy go lucky’ guy in the movie who does not believe in love and only wants to have romantic fun with girls in life. At this point, he happens to meet Sonam Kapoor who strongly believes in love and also has a boyfriend (Sameer Dattani) who she plans to marry in the near future. The movie takes the audience around the experiences that Imran Khan and Sonam Kapoor go through as they get to know each other well. As their friendship progresses, they realize they love each other a lot and they live happily ever after. The End.

Imran Khan shot to fame with Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na, but has not been able to come up with any block buster movies. He does have good looks (which do help up to a certain extent), but lack of acting does not help much. He has tried his best though. He plays the role of an assistant in a production house, where Sonam Kapoor joins as the head of a team that manages the coordination for a particular movie.

Sonam Kapoor looks cute in a few scenes, but not in all, not sure why! She also has to go to the acting school to learn how to act, as it looks very artificial.

Sameer Dattani is the loser guy, who is Mr.Perfect, but turns out to be the loser at the end of the movie. He played a similar role in Kutty, the tamil movie that I watched last week. It is just an interesting coincidence that I watched two of his movies in two weeks, while I have never watched any of his movies before.

Vishal-Shekhar (Vishal Dadlani and Shekhar Ravjiani) have composed the music for the movie. I loved the music they did for Bluff Master, Salaam Namaste and Om Shanti Om and was hoping for something similar in this movie, but was a bit disappointed.

The problem I have with I Hate Luv Storys is the fact that this movie is infact a love story, which is definitely not going to be liked by audiences who hate love stories. Moreover, this love story is a bit dragging and it really takes patience to watch it fully.

Dont even bother trying to watch this movie. If you have a lot of free time, do something useful with it, may be Ajab Prem Ki Gazab Kahani? 🙂
