Samsung Galaxy Note – My All In One Device

Thursday, February 28th, 2013

As we moved into the new year in 2013, I took a decision to try out Samsung Galaxy Note as my primary technology device. I am happy to say that by now, I am convinced that this device takes care of almost all my technology needs.

I was an ardent fan of the Blackberry for over 12 years now and I think I have used my last blackberry!

Samsung Galaxy Note comes with a stylus that helps good old writing, rather than the typing that I have been doing for many many years now. With Swype enabled on this device, writing is as fast as it was on the blackberry.

With the amount of typing that I do on a daily basis, I was warned that with all that typing on the blackberry, it was just a matter time before which I would end up with issues with my thumb. With the swyping instead of typing now, I already feel happier with my new toy.

My Top Technology Tools in 2012

Tuesday, November 20th, 2012

Time to write my top technology tools in 2012! It is that time of the year – a month before the year ends and I start preparing for my next year.

As I was going through my year end winding down tasks, I noticed it was time to jot down my top technology tools this year.

I started writing this in 2010 and it is interesting to see how it has changed from 2010 to 2011 to now.

As I did last year, this year also I have split my technology tools into a few sections. Here they are…

My Top Technology Tools in 2011

Wednesday, November 2nd, 2011

I started writing about my top technology tools last year and have been fascinated at how my technology needs have changed (or not!) in the past year. Hence I am writing this post to see what are my top technology tools in 2011.

This year, I realized that my technology tools actually fall under three categories: Hardware, Software and external websites (yes, I use external websites as technology tools).

In fact, the setup below is exactly what I need to work from wherever I am (which is what I want to do all the time)

Blackberry Services Down Worldwide

Wednesday, October 12th, 2011

For the first time in over ten years of using the blackberry, I noticed today that the Blackberry service has been interrupted worldwide. Being one of the main technology tools that I use, I could not help noticing it and was very surprised this happened.

Over the past two days, Blackberry has been having outage issues in Middle East Asia as well as Europe. This morning, we realized this outage was happening in India also. I checked and confirmed that this outage is also now in North America from midnight and has not been fixed for over four hours now.

The surprising factor is that it appears even Exchange mails are down, but I am not sure. I did not receive any emails from 11pm last night, which might be because of an outage or because no one sent any email via the Exchange server to me past 11 pm 🙂 .

Slave of the Blackberry

Tuesday, October 19th, 2010

I have been using the Blackberry for over ten years now (right from the days when it was looking like a pager with a wheel in it). I always used to think Blackberry is an innovative device which helps us stay on top of our emails all the time. What I have realized is that I have become like a robot, not the Rajinikanth Robot style, but more like the olden days Robot style, where the robots are told to do specific operations on specific commands.

Whenever I see the red light indicator on the blackberry or if I feel it is vibrating, my robotic mind is tuned by the master (Mr.Blackberry) to unlock the device and see if I have received an email.

Blogging from Blackberry

Friday, March 19th, 2010

This is my first post trying to publish a post directly from my Blackberry.

So far, the installation of WordPress for Blackberry and the setup as well as configuration of my blog has gone quite smooth.

Will try and see how this works and if it does, I will be tempted to blog more often from my blackberry itself directly.

Will let you know how it goes.

Do I need an iPad?

Thursday, January 28th, 2010

Within a day after every one announced that Apple launches iPad, there are many questions that have come up in my mind as an addicted user of laptops and smart phones for over ten years now.

I spend over 12 hours a day on these devices every day and am still not sure if the iPad will be beneficial to me in any way. I did a similar comparison between iPhone and Blackberry and decided to stick to Blackberry.

I am trying to come up with a similar comparison, just focused around my needs. So before I go into any comparison, it will be better to take a look at what I do.

Blackberry vs iPhone

Saturday, January 16th, 2010

I have been using Blackberry from the year it was launched (in 2000). Ever since the launch of iPhone, I have always been asked by many of my friends why I am still with Blackberry!

I decided to give iPhone a serious try and see if it fits my needs and the results are ready to be published to every one. Click the Read More link below to find out the details.

Blackberry – Phone Vibrate only

Friday, January 15th, 2010

I have the Blackberry 8900 for sometime now and had set it to normal mode all these days.

It used to ring while in normal mode and vibrate for any new email message. Since I do not like to have my phone ringing when I get a call, I set it to vibrate mode. Also, I did not want to have my device vibrate when a email comes in. I only wanted the device to vibrate on new calls – everything else should be silent.
