Paradise Briyani Pointe – Restaurant Review again

Saturday, September 4th, 2010

Went to Paradise Briyani Pointe at Oak Tree Road for dinner on friday night. By the time we decided on friday night to go to for dinner to Paradise Briyani Pointe, it was almost 9pm and we were six of us. Since it was a long weekend, we were ok to wait before we get seated. To our surprise, we got our table right away and we started our ordering spree 🙂

I started with my usual Gobi Manchurian, along with which we also placed an order of Chicken 65. Both the items turned out be very spicy, I guess if we do not say what the spice level should be, the food comes with full spice level.

We then ordered chicken briyani, prawn briyani and chicken fried rice. Chicken fried rice and Gobi Manchurian combination reminded us of the typical Indo Chinese food that we used to have back in India.

The chicken briyani was ok, not up to the mark expected at Paradise Briyani Pointe. The quantity was quite a lot but definitely not the quality that has always led us to this place.

Prawn briyani had all the prawns deep fried and were quite tasty. This was consistent with how it used to be in the past.

Overall it was an average experience at the Oak Tree Road branch and it makes us think if the New Brunswick branch is better than this one.

Dimple – Restaurant Review

Tuesday, July 13th, 2010

Dimple is a restaurant on Oak Tree Road in New Jersey, which has been around for over 10 years now.

I had channa batura and liked the taste a lot. Paanipuri is something that I get at any restaurant that I go to. We also had masala dosa and bhel puri as those are our favourites. All the items were quite tasty and it was not too spicy too.

We ended our dinner with Indian ice cream and Falooda. I love the Falooda that I have always tasted at their branch (Khasiyat), and was happy to find the same taste here also.

The only problem we saw was that the place was badly maintained, ie, not enough attention has been given for the renovation of the place. It looks quite poorly lit and any improvement to the ambience will surely help retain the customers.

Around the  year 1999 and 2000, Dimple used to be the undisputed best restaurant on Oak Tree Road. Now there are many more restaurants which have started providing good service along with good taste. in any case, Dimple continues to maintain the same consistency for over ten years now.

If you are in Oak Tree Road area in NJ, you should try it out.

Spice Palace – Restaurant Review

Thursday, May 20th, 2010

I have been to Spice Palace three times before, last night we tried their take out for the first time.

The briyani at Spice Palace is supposedly good and hence we decided to take out their Chicken Briyani (not the Hyderabadi Style Dum Briyani, but their other Chicken Briyani – yes, they have two varieties). I also ordered other items such as Chicken 65 (my son’s favourite) and also Pesarattu and Gobi Manchurian for myself.

It was an interesting experience – not the actual food itself – but the way I got the items.

India Palace – Restaurant Review

Thursday, May 13th, 2010

We went to Boston last weekend for the Boston Open badminton tournament and during this time got a chance to eat at India Palace, an upcoming chain specializing in Indian food.

We went to India Palace for lunch. There was a 20 to 30 minutes wait and we realized there itself that it was a restaurant in demand.

India Palace offers a wide variety of items in the buffet for lunch.

We started with Rasam as the soup. It was quite tasty. I had idly, vada and sambhar as appetizer. Their sambhar was one of the best I have ever had.

There was also panneer lollypop and potato fry, both of which were very good.

For the main course, I had naan, panneer tikka and kadai vegetables. All the items were tasting good. The others at my table had Chicken Tandoori and Chicken tikka masala in addition and expressed the same reaction that all the items were tasting good.

There where three items for dessert – Fruits in sweet noodles, Carrot halwa and Laddu. I loved the Carrot halwa the most as it was very very tasty.

Overall it was a very good experience going to India Palace and I will highly recommend it to anyone looking for good Indian restaurant in Boston area – btw, I heard they have four branches in Boston area.

Check it out folks!

Gagan's Bistro – Average

Monday, March 22nd, 2010

We visited a new indoor water park called Sahara Sams in West Berlin, New Jersey on saturday. On our way to the water park we noticed a restaurant called Gagan’s Bistro and planned to visit the restaurant on our way back.

As per the plan, we went to Gagan’s Bistro for dinner.

They have a pleasant setup with neat decorations, good lighting and good spacing of seats. I consider ambience as an important thing that sets your mind up pyschologically when you go to a restaurant to eat. I noticed that Gagan’s Bistro has a welcoming atmosphere and so I got a good feeling here as soon as I stepped in.

Coriander Restaurant in NJ – Good experience

Sunday, March 21st, 2010

We went to Coriander in Edison NJ for dinner on Friday night. This restaurant is in the same place where Aachis restaurant used to be.

It was friday night and we noticed the restaurant was not very crowded though. They have not modified the decorations much and had retained the ones that used to be when Aachis was around.
