Chap Chay – Restaurant Review

After a friend recommended Chap Chay Restaurant at Rain Tree in St.Mary’s Road Chennai, we went to Chap Chay for dinner last night.

Chap Chay is in the basement floor of the hotel and is a new remodelled restaurant, where Lemon Grass had existed before. They have redone the interiors and made the place look more spacious by reducing the number of tables.

Dewberry’s Restaurant in Chennai – Restaurant Review

Went to Dewberry’s restaurant in Mylapore, Chennai last night and it was a pleasant experience.

Dewberry’s is located off Radhakrishnan Salai, opposite Kalyani Nursing Home. Dewberry’s looks like a home converted into a restaurant (and they also have a boutique in the same section). You can prefer to get seated inside or outside, we chose to sit inside, knowing that the Chennai mosquitos are trained to carry people away.

We liked the list of items in the menu (and I wanted to get each one of them)!

Chipotle – Restaurant Review – Why I love Chipotle

Chipotle is a Mexican fast food joint present in many locations across the US. I am a big fan of Chipotle, but for a long time it never came to my mind that I should write about my experience and love for it.

Chipotle is a very ordinary mexican chain, which might not impress many. For some reason, I am in love with the food I eat at Chipotle as they have been in consistent in making me feel satisfied after every meal I eat there.

Every time I go there, I see a queue of at least 20 people ahead of me. I always order either the vegetarian bowl or the vegetarian wrap and I have my standard set of items that go in it:

Silk Road Restaurant Review

Silk Road is one of my favourite restaurants in New Jersey. Silk Road is owned by a Afghan family, settled in the US and offers authentic Afghani cuisine. I have been a regular visitor to this restaurant for over six years now and have tried every single one of their vegetarian varieties.

Happened to go to Silk Road again this month and thought it is time I write a review about my experiences with Silk Road so far. We went there for dinner and I was surprised to see the capacity of the restaurant has been doubled. Then realized they have added the neighbouring shop and now it looks much more spacious than before. In addition, they have rearranged the furniture and quite a few things, to make it look much more spacious now. I like this setup better than the old one.

As always, we were welcomed by the ever smiling members of the family, who run the restaurant.

Mithaas – Restaurant Review

Went to Mithaas last weekend before going for a movie and had a mixed experience there.

Mithaas is a part of the group that owns a chain of good restaurants such as Mughal (it is quite famous in New Jersey) and Ming (the Indo-Chinese speciality one). Mithaas was opened a few years back as a place where you can grab snacks, sweets related items, or have a quick bite, when you do not have a lot of time to wait and dine.

It was around lunch time and so I decided to order the Mithaas Special Thali. Mithaas Special thaali consists of with two rotis and a set of three side dishes. When we went it was dal makhani, baingan curry and one more item.

I have to say, I loved every single item in this dish and was quite impressed with the presentation too.

They also provide Raita and Cucumber as side dishes. Initially I thought I could mix raita with rice, but later I realized that it was not the right combination.

The only drawback with this restaurant is the quality of the service. I got a feeling that the staff there just did not care about the customers.

Initially, I realized they made us buy our own water. This is the only restaurant in the world that I am aware of that does not have any water served to the customers. Also, when they did not have change, they made it our headache to go back and ask them for the change if we wanted it. It would have been a wonderful gesture, if they offered to provide the change at the table, as soon as they got some change. They missed a golden opportunity to show that the class of their customer service can also match the taste of the food they prepare.
