Self Parking Slippers and Chairs – Remarkable

Sunday, February 4th, 2018

I came across this interesting article about self parking slippers in the newspaper today. My curiosity level went up when I realized it was from Nissan as a good friend of mine, Tony, is deeply involved in the thick of actions in technology there.

When I pinged him on this, he directed me to a post he had made on this topic a few days back, which led me to wealth of information on this topic, which is remarkable.

Self Parking Slippers

Nissan had taken this initiative to showcase to people about their ProAssist technology.Β  When you watch this video about the self parking slippers, you will be fascinated by it.

As I continued to watch this, I got to learn about ProPilot Chair, which shows how the same technology was used in a proof of concept for self parking chairs to make queueing system easy so that people do not have to stand up and sit down in a queue as they move ahead.

Due to their connected videos on this topic, I got a chance to learn about the self parking slippers, chairs, cushions, tables and even mats, a proof of concept done by Nissan to show case the technology behind their self parking cars.

The simplicity with which Nissan has explained the robustness of their ProAssist technology is remarkable, as it helps people relate to their day to day experiences and can imagine how exactly the same technology is available in the Self Parking vehicles coming from Nissan. Hats off to Tony and team at Nissan for this amazing way of explaining to the common man. This is a classic example of how you explain serious technology to common folks. This is an important lesson to learn from, for everyone involved in creating new technology to solve real world needs.

Suriya meets Arnold Schwarzenegger

Wednesday, September 17th, 2014

This picture going around on FB is too funny to resist from sharing πŸ™‚

Surya meets Arnold Schwazenegger

Here is the Hindi translation – Thanks to my friend Murali πŸ™‚

Singham Tamil movie mein Surya ka ek dialogue hai – “Jor se maara toh daed ton ka weight hai!!”
Arnold: Jor se maara toh daed ton ka weight hai kya?
Surya: Nahin Nahin, kasam se woh mein nahin hoon bhaai

Here is the English translation – I did this myself πŸ™‚

There is a Tamil language movie called Singham in which Surya says a dialogue: “If I hit you hard, you will feel one and a half tonne weight falling on you”.

Arnold: If you hit hard is it one and a half tonne weight falling on the person you hit?

Surya: No no brother. I promise that was not me – someone else said it.

You will be sent home immediately!

A poor boy from a village, who only studied till 8th grade, went to the office of a top politician in the city, looking for a job to join them as a helper for bringing tea/coffee, cleaning the tables, etc.Β This was the head office of the party which had about 10 people in the office, including the top politician.

The young boy was interviewed by two key members of the inner circle of the political leader who asked him the usual questions such as where he comes from, what he has studied, what his parents do, etc etc.

They decided to appoint him and gave him the usual lecture such as:

  • Your monthly salary will be Rs.3000/-
  • You should be up by 5am and work till 11pm every day.
  • You have to work 6 full days and 1/2 a day on Sunday – and use the remaining half a day to enjoy your life!
  • You should wipe the tables, bring coffee/tea/snacks, etc
  • Always keep your head down and give respect to every one
  • Blah, blah, blah

At the end of the interview, they said he was appointed and he can come and join work the very next day.

At this point, when the young boy was about to leave, one of the key members in the interview team said ‘One last thing’. The boy stopped and looked at him at which point this key member said:

If at any time we come to know that you have built arrogance or ego over the fact that you are the most educated person in this office, you will be sent home immediately!

Funny Names of Roads

Thursday, December 20th, 2012

I noticed that Corporation of Chennai has taken an initiative to repaint all the roads and provide the names of the roads in Tamil as well as in English.

The funny part of this is that in many locations the names have been translated with mistakes from Tamil to English.

Here is one obvious one, were Justice is painted as ‘Just’.

Hope they realize how bad it looks – once you know the meaning in both Tamil and English.

Vehicle and Lemons

Thursday, December 13th, 2012

In Tamil Nadu (and a few states in South India), there are quite a few customary beliefs. One of those is hanging one or more lemons in their vehicles.

Though I have seen a few vehicles run with lemon hanging in front, I was amused to see three lemons hanging in front of a BMW car.

It reminded me of the comedy scene in Minnale movie where Vivek asks the lorry driver how he trusts the lemon more than the 750 spare parts in the lorry πŸ™‚ .

Note: This is a clip from a Tamil movie and if you do not understand Tamil, this video below might not interest you.

Junk Comments

Thursday, December 6th, 2012

As I write more regularly, I am noticing that the spammers who specialize in posting junk comments are sending a lot of junk comments, with the hope that I would approve it and they would get some links back.

If you are not an experienced blogger and just starting to blog, you might be tempted into believing that they really meant what they wrote. Only when you carefully look at it, you will know that these comments are so generic, that these spammers just keep posting it as a response on any random blog post.

I get a good laugh when I read such posts. Sharing some of these comments here so you can also get to see some of those comments which I reject and do not publish.

Amazing Ad from The Hindu

Monday, December 3rd, 2012

Noticed this funny video ad from The Hindu. It shows how kids in classrooms are watching exactly what the politicians in India are doing and do exactly the same in this mock political discussion in the classroom.

This ad is now becoming very popular all over India as it truly reflects the situation happening across various legislative assemblies in India.

It is pathetic, but at the same time funny, as this is the poor state of discipline maintained by some of the elected representatives of India.

I hope this situation changes and people learn to behave, so that they can say they lead from the front.

Take It Easy with Balaji from BigFM

Wednesday, November 21st, 2012

I have been hooked on to listening to the Take It Easy with Balaji show on 92.7 BigFM Chennai FM Station from 6pm to 9pm. This is the time when I go to play badminton with my son, and Balaji makes us laugh every single time with his funny ‘Cross Talk’ encounters.

In today’s programme, he calls an IAS aspirant and asks her a series of questions, with his funny broken English, ranging from Virendra Sehwag’s century to latest current affairs . He also claims to be an IAS officer, who drew the border line with Bangladesh using a pencil πŸ™‚ . It was very very funny. More than any thing else, it is his consistency with which he makes the audience smile, which has made him a super hit RJ.

Here is one such five minute audio where R.Ashwin (Indian Spinner) gave the Indian team physio’s number to BigFM and how Balaji tells the physio that we will start a 24 by 7 gym, where we will also hire 8 people to go and wake up all the members every morning πŸ™‚ .

I used to have the habit of listening to FM while driving, just for the songs. All these months I used to comfortably switch stations as soon as I heard a RJ speak or an ad come up. After this addiction to Balaji’s show, I listen to every single ad πŸ™ on 92.7, just in anticipation so as to not miss any word of his wonderful delivery of jokes. All those advertisers from Ramco, etc have to thank him for making people like me listen to their ads purely because of him.

Today, I was extremely impressed when he conducted the ‘Junior RJ’ talent search contest and extended his trademark ‘tododontontontime’.

Letter to Superman – The New Online Blogger

Wednesday, October 24th, 2012

Heard the news this morning that Clarke Kent, our beloved Superman is giving up his long term job at The Daily Planet and is now becoming an online blogger!

So I have written an open email to Superman, thought I should publish it here:

Dear Superman,

I have been your fan from the time I knew of you, just like many others who have adored you from their childhood. We have always felt you are the best person around to save this world. In spite of all the kids around the block with me-too-man names, you have a special place in our hearts, just because of your consistency over a very long period of time. We all know that you are continuing to protect us from the alien attacks, many of which we do not even know of.

Today, I heard the news about your new job as an online blogger! This directly puts you in competition with me and many other bloggers who are blogging for many years now. So I have to respectfully say that you are the new kid on the block. Knowing your amazing powers, I am worried you will attract all the traffic online to your site and we will be left with nothing.

As a result, I am also contemplating on taking up your job and start saving the world from aliens, just like how you have been doing for many years now. Please do not be upset with me if all your long term fans now become my fans and stop following you.

PS: I dont know your facebook or twitter ids, so please do share it online so that I can IM you about all the alien attacks that I manage to overcome.

You Know Who!

Making Life Easy for People

Friday, August 24th, 2012

I thought of a sentence which I started liking a lot.

It is very easy to make life difficult for others, but it is very difficult to make life easy for others.

I am in the business of making life easier for others. What about you?
