Wake Up Sid is now available on Netflix and so we decided to watch Wake Up Sid last night at home. I have watched many movies this year, but would rank Wake Up Sid as one of the best movies I have watched this year. I think this is one of the best movies of Ranbir Kapoor so far.
Wake Up Sid is a story about a rich kid, Sid, played by Ranbir Kapoor, who grows up to be a irresponsible brat.
He meets this new girl in town, Konkona Sen Sharma, who comes to Mumbai with lots of dreams and aspirations, with the aim of becoming independent. Ranbir Kapoor, tries to join his dad, Anupam Kher’s business, but ends up running away from the office within a week. When his exam results are announced, he realizes that he is the only one who has flunked his exams, while all his friends have cleared them. When his dad scolds him to grow up and become responsible in life, he decides to walk out of the house and move in with Konkona Sen. This experience turns him into a responsible individual who realizes that he can do anything he puts his mind into.
The movie is taken in a very nice fashion, with every scene as good as the previous one. The story line is continuous and the acting is just right. Overall it was a very good experience, just the one that all of us would love to have, when we go to see a movie.
The songs are very soft – I dont remember seeing any romantic numbers, but do remember the soft music. Since I have not heard them before, I guess I will get used to it as I listen to it more often.
One interesting thing happened while watching the movie. I happened to see Supriya Pathak, my child hood heart throb after a long time in this movie. I did not realize it was her, until a scene came where she and Ranbir go over some of the childhood photos of Sid, where I saw Supriya Pathak and immediately realized it is her! Oh My God – what a change – she used to be this skinny little girl, she has now put on weight and looks very different.
Overall, Wake Up Side is one of the best movies of 2009 that I would recommend to any one who has not watched it before.
