Logitech Tablet Keyboard for iPad

Sunday, December 30th, 2012

Logitech Tablet Keyboard for iPad is a bluetooth based keyboard which is connected to the iPad device, helping with the speed in typing, thus improving the productivity.

I got this last night and connected it to my iPad (original version) and the installation was quite smooth, exactly as expected from any Logitech device. This morning I connected it to iPad2 and the installation was again without any hiccups. In fact, I am typing this blog right now, using this keyboard and the speed is fantastic.

If you have been following my yearly reviews on the technology tools I use, you would have noticed that I always juggled between various devices – as a part of my search to find the right combination of devices needed to take care of my needs.

iPad is one of the primary devices in my toolset, and it travels with me every where. One thing I have realized is that the slowness in the typing on iPad has been a major limitation for my needs. This logitech device now compliments the iPad and is extremely beneficial if you require a lot of typing as a part of your daily activities.

With this combination, there is a possibility to eliminate or at least reduce a few other devices I use. Eg. I will not be depending on the desktop any more for typing my blogs. Am also going to try and see if web development can be done using this, as there is a good set of apps to handle typing as well as ftp transfers on the iPad.

Overall, quite happy right now about this new addition.

My Top Technology Tools in 2012

Tuesday, November 20th, 2012

Time to write my top technology tools in 2012! It is that time of the year – a month before the year ends and I start preparing for my next year.

As I was going through my year end winding down tasks, I noticed it was time to jot down my top technology tools this year.

I started writing this in 2010 and it is interesting to see how it has changed from 2010 to 2011 to now.

As I did last year, this year also I have split my technology tools into a few sections. Here they are…

Galaxy Tab – Will it beat the iPad?

Sunday, September 19th, 2010

Samsung has announced the release of Galaxy Tab, which is Samsung’s answer to compete with iPad.

Android apps work on this phone – this means that the 80,000 Android Apps that are available, will work on this Galaxy Tab.

iPad does not have a phone feature. Galaxy Tab can be used as a phone, by connecting with a bluetooth enabled device.

iPad does not have a camera in it. Galaxy Tab has a front facing video which is something that iPhone 4 mentioned as a huge innovation.

PCWorld has done a good comparison of both the devices, and the screenshot is given below.

No matter what happens, unless Samsung Galaxy Tab can present the users with a user interface that can match or beat the user expectations on the usability.

This device is expected to be out in the market on 1-Nov-2010, so until then your guess is as good as mine 🙂

Apple to allow Flash on iPhone and iPad

Sunday, September 12th, 2010

This week Apple has made a significant change to its developer agreements and it is going to change the marketplace.

Apple’s success with iPhone and iPad have been complimented very well by the App Store in the iPhone. With its tight control over the App Store, Apple has made sure every single application goes through its ‘secret review’ process. As a part of these restrictions, Apple had also made the developers sign an agreement that they will not use certain third party tools such as Flash, as well as restricting third party applications in the iPhone or iPad applications.

This week, Apple has relaxed some of these restrictions – out of which two of those are highly significant.  They are listed below with details

iPad – A pleasant experience

Friday, August 13th, 2010

I got a chance this week to play around with my son’s iPad and felt I should write about it immediately. Being a staunch blackberry supporter, I still do not want to concede defeat to the iPhone or the iPad as I can still debate my way around why it is not the right device for a hard core technology addict like me.

In any case, I do believe that iPad is the right device for any computer user and by far the best device in the world for a normal computer user.

Do I need an iPad?

Thursday, January 28th, 2010

Within a day after every one announced that Apple launches iPad, there are many questions that have come up in my mind as an addicted user of laptops and smart phones for over ten years now.

I spend over 12 hours a day on these devices every day and am still not sure if the iPad will be beneficial to me in any way. I did a similar comparison between iPhone and Blackberry and decided to stick to Blackberry.

I am trying to come up with a similar comparison, just focused around my needs. So before I go into any comparison, it will be better to take a look at what I do.
