Sachin Crosses 15000 mark – 100th Century on its way?

Tuesday, November 8th, 2011

Sachin Tendulkar crossed yet another milestone today, reaching 15000 runs in test cricket. I am still waiting, like many other fans of his, to see him cross the 100th century mark.

I still remember the day when Sunil Gavaskar became the first man to cross the 10000 runs mark in test cricket – almost 20 years ago.

The one landmark that remains for a long time is the 100th century in international cricket. Sachin missed it during the first innings yesterday and he might be able to make it tomorrow – if he and Dravid continue the way they have been batting so far.

At this stage, India needs another 124 runs to win, with Sachin on 33. That means he will have to score 67 runs out of the 124 runs required. Hoping 9-Nov-2011 will go in the history of cricket as the day a man scored 100th century in international cricket. Lets wait and see 🙂

Harbhajan Singh – The Batsman

Monday, November 15th, 2010

Harbhajan Singh has been a part of the Indian cricket team for over ten years now – primarily as a leg spinner. All cricket lovers from India are also aware of his unorthodox batting style using which he has hit a few sixers every now and then in both one day as well as test cricket.

In the past two weeks, in two consecutive tests against New Zealand, Harbhajan Singh’s batting form has transformed him into a mature batsman who has carried the responsibility of seeing India get to safer totals in three consecutive innings. He had scored a half century and a century in the first test match and today he completed his second consecutive century in the first innings.

All the three innings he has played are in completely different circumstances.

Dinesh Karthik – Lucky again?

Wednesday, December 23rd, 2009

If you are following the India – Sri Lanka cricket series, you would have noticed that Dinesh Karthik has yet again been lucky to be included in the squad – or actually is it mere coincidence?

One key factor that has been mentioned is that Kris Srikkanth is the selector and that could be a main reason why Dinesh Karthik is getting his chances again and again.

Coincidentally, Dhoni has been suspended for two matches and that has also given Karthik yet another opportunity to play.

In the last match, he was very good in giving Sachin Tendulkar a good support helping India go through the formalities of completing the win without any other hiccups.

With Yuvraj also out and Dhoni sitting out for another match, we have to wait and see if Karthik makes best use of this opportunity.

We do know Rahul Dravid once called him a thinking cricketer, but lets see if he makes best use of this chance.
