Spent some time earlier this week on understanding ‘Audible’ book types, the recent innovation from Amazon, which allows users to download books using ‘Audible’ book type and it plays on Android/iPhone devices.

As they also gave two books for free to be downloaded with new sign ups, I took this opportunity to download and listened to ‘One Simple Idea’ by Stephen Key and ‘Linchpin’ by Seth Godin.

Initially it looked like any other app, but as I started using Audible, I fell in love with it. Here are some reasons why:

  • When I felt the book was narrated too slow for me, I wished I could speed it up – and there it was – an option to increase speed of narration upto 3 times.
  • When I got distracted in the middle due to some reason, I wished it would be nice to go back a few seconds and there it was – an option to go back by 30 seconds!

I am guessing my next wish should be that I switch this on and go to bed with my headsets on, and by the time I wake up, I should have read and understood the contents of the book 🙂

With features such as ability to read on a PC or MAC or a mobile device, I am guessing Audible is remarkable. Btw, Audible belongs to the Amazon group of companies and have lived up to the reputation of high quality associated with all Amazon products.
