Forbes recently released a list of 68 most influential people in the world. This list is introduced by Forbes with a nice phrase saying there are 6.8 billion people in this world and here is a list of the top 68 people who are considered the most influential.

While there are many popular names in the list, the ones that caught my attention are listed below under sections of Politicians from India, Industrialists from India, Technologists around the world and other suprising entries.

The details with my thoughts on the above sections are given below:

1. Politicians from India:
It was quite noteworthy to find Sonia Gandhi in the top 10 and Manmohan Singh  also listed among the top 20. I did not find a single politician from India and was a bit disappointed not to see Dr.A.P.J.Abdul Kalam, but as the title rightly points he is no more an influential person as his contributions are not actively recognized and publicized now as it was when he was the President of India.

2. Industrialists from India:
It was no brainer to see Mukesh Ambani of Reliance Industries, Lakshmi Mittal  from Mittal Industries and Ratan Tata from Tata Group in this list. As the economy of India continues to grow (ofcourse with the rich getting richer), we can expect to see more people in this list. Currently there are 50 billionaires from India among the top 1000 billionaires in the world. As this number grows, I am guessing the list of industrialists in the most influential list will also grow.

3. Personalities from Technology World:
It was a pleasure to see Bill Gates from Microsoft among the top 10 and Steve Jobs from Apple among the top 20. Larry Page and Sergei Brin from Google, Robin Li of Baidu, Mark Zuckerberg from Facebook and Jeff Bezos of Amazon are also included in this list. It was also surprising to see Julian Assange from Wikileaks in this list. If this trend continues, I think we do not have many more sites, besides Twitter, whose chief can be added to the influential list, unless we get a new break through in the next year or two from the current leaders such as Facebook, Google, Amazon, Microsoft and Apple.

4. Other Surprising Entries:
I was surprised to find Osama Bin Laden on this list. I also found Dawood Ibrahim also listed in the 68 most influential people in the world.
