Chatgpt is a remarkable chatbot, launched on 30th November 2022, and within one week of launch, it reached a million users.
Chatgpt is a chatbot model developed by OpenAI, using Generative Pretrained Transformer (GPT) 3, which is a state of the art natural language processing (NLP) model, trained on large amounts of data.
ChatGPT is specifically designed to be used in conversational contexts, such as in chatbots or virtual assistants. It is able to generate human-like text inputs, making it useful for tasks such as answering questions or providing information.
One of the key features of ChatGPT is its ability to generate contextual responses ie. It takes into account the context of the conversation and generates appropriate responses based on the context.
ChatGPT has an inherent ability to learn from interactions with users. This helps ChatGPT improve its responses over a period of time based on the feedback it receives.
While trying to learn about ChatGPT and how it is different from InstructGPT (the model that was used earlier), their website gives a very good explanation of how ChatGPT tries to avoid inappropriate requests while it was not happening in the past. See the image above for the comparison information from https://openai.com/blog/chatgpt/ .
I tried playing around with ChatGPT a few times.
- Tried to ask ChatGPT to explain about itself and most of the text you see above were generated by ChatGPT.
- Tried to ask the same question to ChatGPT multiple times and noticed that each time it framed the response in a slightly different manner. (See the screenshot attached above)
- Tried to hack into ChatGPT by adding text that I wanted it to learn, by sending it links of sites that I like etc. The feedback was taken, but not sure how it would be absorbed by the training model. (See screenshot below)
Overall, it is still early days but one thing is for sure, we have a remarkable innovation in front of us, in the form of ChatGPT, and it could be a serious contender to challenge Google Search. Time will answer this question if it really can be one.
