After a friend recommended Chap Chay Restaurant at Rain Tree in St.Mary’s Road Chennai, we went to Chap Chay for dinner last night.
Chap Chay is in the basement floor of the hotel and is a new remodelled restaurant, where Lemon Grass had existed before. They have redone the interiors and made the place look more spacious by reducing the number of tables.
Chap Chay serves food items from Indo-Chinese and Thai cuisines. They have both vegetarian as well as non-vegetarian items.
My appetizer was the mushroom sautee and it was quite tasty. (It was during the dinner last night that we had an interesting conversation on the topic of differences between ‘taste’ and ‘quality’).
We also had the chicken sautee, chicken skewers and chicken spring rolls. All the items were ok, nothing great and also nothing to complain about.
For the main course, we had egg fried rice, fish curry and pad thai. I tried the pad thai after over a year, and it continues to be my favourite thai food to date – thank God, Chap Chay did not mess it up.
The service was excellent. I cannot praise the way they handled us and made us feel quite comfortable.
I surely recommend going to Chap Chay to experience their friendly service.
