Endhiran Movie Review

Sunday, October 24th, 2010

Finally went for Endhiran movie last night and it was an interesting experience.

All these days I have only heard good reviews about Endhiran. As I have mentioned earlier I waited to watch this movie until the ticket rates become normal and now that it is normal, I decided to watch this movie last night at Big Cinemas on Oak Tree Road, New Jersey.

The movie goes on nice until the interval. All the scenes are perfectly rendered the way we would expect a Rajinikanth movie to be – with nice bit of comedy, good songs, etc.

Rajini is awesome in the entire movie. If not for him, I doubt how many days this movie would have run.

  • His Dr.Vaseegaran version made me think for the first time we are actually seeing the real Rajinikanth, as I have heard he is a very straight forward and noble man in real life.
  • His good Chitti version reminded me of his role in his movies in his younger days (Guru Sishyan, etc), where he was getting to be accepted by many ladies as a handsome man 🙂
  • His bad Chitti version reminded me of his movies in the past where he has performed excellently in darker roles such as Moondru Mugam, Polladhavan, Johnny, etc.

Aishwarya Rai looks very beautiful throughout the movie.

Endhiran – Robo – Good reviews so far

Saturday, October 2nd, 2010

Super star Rajinikanth’s Endhiran movie was released this week in various languages and I am hearing good reviews about it so far.

Some of my friends watched it in Chennai and came back and said that Sankar has spent over 150 crores very well in the graphics effects.

The initial reviews from Dubai came out very well with one die-hard fan saying this is the best movie ever (that review coming from a Rajini fan should not be taken at face value 🙂 ).

A few online sites like Great Andhra has given a rating of 3.7 which is considered very high given the fact that their average reviews are around 2 or 2.5.

Some people said the last 30 minutes is something no one has ever tried in any movie before – in a positive sense.

Another friend of mine who watched it in Dallas mentioned that the graphics effect in the second half was too much and he could not take it.

Overall, it appears to be a good opening for the movie, we will have to wait and see how it goes.

Since I am a hard core Rajini fan, many people asked me if I am planning to watch the movie – I do want to watch it, but not paying ridiculous amount of money, just because it has superstar in it. It is just a movie – so I will watch it when it comes out with the price I am ok with paying to watch any other movie.

In any case, will update this post as and when I get the reviews from other friends of mine. Have you seen Endhiran or Robo? If you have, do reply and let us know how you liked it.

Endhiran Audio Launch

Tuesday, August 10th, 2010

Got a chance to watch the Endhiran music launch on SunTV. This launch happened at Malaysia and as it happened to be backed by Sun Networks, there was a full blown marketing effort from Sun Networks to show this launch more than once on the channels in their network.

The rumour is that this is a 10 year dream project, which Shankar, the director, had in his mind, but did not execute it earlier as the technology and the team was not ready. On hearing this, it immediately reminded me of similar comments made by James Cameron about Avatar. It will be interesting to see how Endhiran comes out to be!

Another rumour that is floating around is that about 200 crores of Rupees was spent on the movie. About 10 years ago, I have heard Shankar state that we can take movies just like or better than the Hollywood movies if the funding for the movie was adequate. I guess now he has got a chance to spend the amount he wanted and it is time to see how the returns are.

It was a star studded launch and I noticed Kalanidhi Maran also present during the launch, which was the first time that I have noticed him in the fore front, though all of us know he is the brain behind many big businesses that he owns.

Aishwarya Rai forgot to speak about Rajinikanth initially and as always tried to give her own reasons for the same.

I did see the trailer shown during this launch and my first reaction was that I was not very impressed with what I saw. Being a die hard Rajinikanth fan, I might see the movie once, but Aishwarya Rai’s presence in the movie might distract me from watching it again, unless our Super Star weaves his magic once again 🙂

Time to wait and see.
