Watched Love Aaj Kal last night on Netflix. Saif Ali Khan and Deepika Padukone have played the lead role in this movie, with Rishi Kapoor playing a supporting role, helping Saif Ali Khan with timely advices on what to do next in his relationship with Deepika Padukone. Saif Ali Khan infact plays the role of Rishi Kapoor in all the flash back scenes.

The story of this movie, is quite along the lines of the Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna – controversial to a few, practical to a few and complete nonsense to many.

Saif Ali Khan and Deepika Padukone meet in London, date for a year or so and then try to think of their life in a very practical way. Saif Ali Khan has aspirations of working on the Golden Gate project in California, while Deepika wants to come back to India to work on projects restoring old monuments such as the Old Fort, etc. So both of them decide to break up and even have a party to celebrate it.

After a year of separation, both of them start dating other people and Deepika even gets married to Rahul Khanna who is roped in just to play the role of a ‘bakra’ who has no role in the movie except to show up in two or three scenes without much dialogues. Right after the marriage, she realizes this is not the right thing to do. The director just leads us along these mood swings of his and changes the story accordingly in every scene – until the end no one knows what will happen, because the director decided to keep all the characters so dumb that they are capable of taking any decision at any point of time.

The twist song in the movie is quite nice. I enjoyed humming it and in fact have enjoyed it in the past also, but never realised it is from Love Aaj Kal.

Love Aaj Kal is a name I want to remember forever as I dont want to see this movie again even by mistake.
